Nicoles diary from Australia.

Nicole was the lucky one who joined the trip to Australia to meet the Brumbies. Here are some pictures from her amazing experiences.

 

Sunday, March 13:
6h ride, straight out to Kings Creek station. On our way we happened to bump in to a bunch of Camels.

Monday, March 14:
Breakfast before Brumbyhandling. Nicole gets her Brumby buckskin mare to handle during the week.
What a perfect match! Her teacher is PhD Brian Hampson, who could ask for anything more:)

Tuesday, March 15:
I´m riding my Brumby today. What a great feeling! 2h walk around the top of Kings canyon. Beautiful! Brian served us a delicious cocked lamb, while the rain was pouring over the camp. Quite cosy but still a little bit weird in the middle of the desert.

Wednesday, March 16:
Brumbyhandling first thing in the morning then a 3h walk to the caves to watch the Aborginers paintings. I´m sleeping on the table.

Saturday, March 19 - Last day:

One last flockOne last band showed up to say goodbye!
So tiredThen Nicole went to sleep completely exhausted in the car to the airport. Filled with horse memories, exciting excursions, and friendly people.

Participants at seminar were warmly welcomed in the house with candles and champagne.

In the crowd of spectators, there were several farriers and other equine professional business, which followed the lecture with great interest.

The lecture was held at Stall Nygården and operated by Kerstin Tingstrom. The farm consists of 20ha of pasture riding two paddocks, a round coral and two large loose housing sooner than the beautiful house with 7 off boxes and endless trails.

This year was extra special for the equestrian federation held a Kick Off for the World Championships in Kentucky and as a sponsor to Cecilia Engquist Stråhle we were both invited. Patrik Kittel ride a lap of honour in dressage.

Brumbieboy is captured and it is the first time he meets a human. What a feeling! Australia has over 2 million wild camels. I took a ride on the camel today, cool!

After 27h by flight it was time for six hours ride by the troopy. I´ll do whatever it takes to meet the brumbies. There was only one way to go........

Brumbies were captured All the Brumbies have a perfect cone shaped hoofcapsule due to the land they walk on.

Once in a lifetime! I'm riding the Brumbieboy. Check out Brumbies from the helicopter is exciting until I got really motion sick!

The conference is over and we celebrate the Swedish Midsummer. Professor Chris Pollitt takes his first Swedish snaps Our stockcamp!

Brumbieboy gets gelded. There are 10 vets joining the conference so the animals will be well taken care of. The bus unfortunately hit a brumbie and vets had to put him down.

DAY 6 I got the opportunity to spend two days with the research team.

We climb up a mountain where Brian tried to track the brumbies with the GPS, but no luck However, we saw lots of hoofprints.

We passed numerous abandoned cattle stations. For a sec the wild buckskined stallion turned up and I got him on the lens. YES!

Professor Chris Pollitt is creating a new documentary. It´s time to collect grass to be sent for analysis.

DAY 9 A paradise.

At the waterhole we camped and sleept under the stars. Few places on earth is as beautiful as this. In the morning I woke up turned my head to the right and saw six wild horses grassed just a few meters from me. Wow, what a magic moment.

DAY 10 I don't want to go home!

Tough to say goodbye! We are on our way home and make a stop by the caves. The paintings are made by the aborigines. The wild chestnut suddenly appears and decides to run in front of the jeep. My heart rate went up to 200.
